Odor in the field

Spreading manure on fields is a great way to add nutrients to the soil, but it can also be a prime opportunity to smell that ‘fresh air’. Farmers are working hard, though, to make sure your neighborhood is as odor-free as possible.

One of the biggest things farmers are doing is injecting manure right into the soil and mixing it in. Just like when you get an injection at the doctors, farmers have equipment on their tractor that shoots the manure right below the surface of the ground and then other parts of the tractor work it all together. This has been found to be one of the best ways to reduce odor when spreading manure, in addition to reducing runoff.
